EID Employee Pay & Benefits
EID
EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT COMPENSATION...
Take a
look...
"PLATINUM
BENEFITS"…
EID’s 227 FTE employees are budgeted for 2011 salaries
averaging $72,200, plus $38,800 in employee benefits. (This totals $16.4 million in salaries and $8.8 million in benefits...or
60% of EID’s overall $42 million operating budget).
El Dorado County has similar average salaries for law enforcement,
slightly less for administrative employees… but, together average some
$32,800 in employee benefits. How did EID’s current Board allow an extra
$6,000 per EID employee/$1.3 million annual “Platinum Benefits” bonanza
to be added on “their watch”?
"PLATINUM"
PAID TIME OFF (PTO)…
EID provides employee PTO of up to 50 days annually,
including 13 paid Holidays and 22-37 paid Vacation/Sick days.
In addition, EID Management receives 10 days "Management Leave", in lieu
of Overtime pay. (In the Private sector, Management working beyond 40 hours is expected,
"goes with the territory", and is covered by salary).
Where in the Private sector can you be paid for staying home
19% of the
time?
$50 MILLION UNFUNDED
BENEFITS…
Since 2005, EID has added $50 million of unfunded
pension and retiree medical benefit liabilities, including $14 million
in 2010 alone. This financial “ticking time-bomb” when amortized over
ten years, as EID has been directed to do, will add an additional 12% to
existing EID Water and Sewer rates… another $150 annually for an EID
residential Water/Sewer customer.
